In SSL4000 console and a system using ProTools, it used ProTools as a tape machine conventionally and ran actual tape machines such as PCM3348 in a dummy when it wanted to run SSL automation, and it was necessary to give you LTC to let TACH, DIR, LTC, transport control signal and ProTool which SSL required have Chase.
SL906 outputs LTC which sync made to an internal crystal or an external composite video and makes the substitute of this dummy machine.
In other words ProTools works by the master transport operation button of the SSL console.
In the case of a real machine mode, it interfaces PCM3348, and it outputs it, and the according special interface is not necessary for S29E.
In other words console oneself provides environment generating LTC like 9000 series consoles.

“Front panel”
There is the changeover switch of sync switch, a frame rate selecting switch, REW, FWD, PLAY, STOP switch and a shadow machine and the real machine to the front panel.
In addition, it inputs a color composite into external sync, and the frame rate is 29.97, and, as for the bit rate, it is 30 when it chooses 30 frames.

“Interface”
It implements port compatible with S29E in SL906, LTC input and output, composite video input, timecode character display video output, com1 port for host computers and S38E port for machine switches.
Additionally, the function of the MTS (master transport selector) switches available 3348 or SL906, too and can be connected to the S29E port.

“Setup”
It connects S29E port of SL906 to the S29E port of the SSL console connecter panel or an MTS like a normal tape machine and connects LTC to LTC leader of SSL to connect SSL and ProTools system in SL906.
Please connect LTC to “USD” of ProTools or “SYNC I/O “in SSL and parallel.
Additionally, please connect 3348 transport cables to rear panel of SL906 when you use it together with 3348.
In addition, the cable to connect 3348 to can just use existing ones.
When you switch a machine by commands such as A SETUP of the SSL computer, please connect S38E.

“Time set”
The LTC generator of SL906 is reset on the power-up at 0:00, but presses the PLAY button while pressing STOP for approximately 1 second when it wants to reset it during a working.
It can set the input time from external while pressing STOP with this state more for approximately 1 second when it presses PLAY.
Additionally, it can increase and decrease at the setting time when it presses REW, the FWD button while pressing the STOP button.
It can confirm it by character insert of the video output at the setting time.

“LTC and tach pulse ”
LTC is output only in PLAY and is not output in REW, the FWD.
Additionally, TACH to S29E outputs 30Hz in PLAY and outputs 20 times speed in REW, the highest speed of the FWD.
